Women In Music Day was launched as part of the Uniting The Nations Weekend March 2008.

The day declared by the Women In Music Festival - is the celebration day when all women working in the industry can join together in appreciation of one another's efforts to achieve.

The WIM Festival, built on the foundation to promote all aspects of women working within the music industry, implemented a new view to the quote "women in music" when creating the festival events that are enjoyed by all.  From Receptionist to Roadie, the recognition of all females working within the field has brought highlight to the worthy cause.

The convention planned for March 2009, is set to mark the ONE YEAR ON celebration of International Women In Music Day, declared in Birmingham England, and is only part of the lengthy awareness campaign.

"This declaration is made on behalf of all the women working within the industry who's positions are often forgotten" says Geri Minelli, the founder of the Women In Music Festival."

"All musical organisations and companies are welcome to promote their products and services at the Convention and we want to see more people wearing the maroon Ribbon & Rose emblem with pride.  WIM DAY invites all ladies in the field to come forward with their skill and support the event into success.  We want this network to be the strongest union with support in mind..its not just for us but for generations to come".

To support the cause, WIM are building the WIM DAY forum to give others the opportunity to promote their vocation to the next step. To register for the Women In Music Day, directory or to attend the convention please contact WIM DAY International at "womeninmusic@hotmail.com"

March 28th 2009 - International WIM Day

Women In Music Festival was created in 2003, to assist the work of the music WiM body based in southern England.  Further to sharing our work and objectives with these organisations, here and overseas, Women In Music Festival continues its work with no public funding, and appeals to many of the individuals, who support such ventures.

Created to promote roles from the receptionist to the roadie, Women In Music Festival set its objective to assist with the promotion of all fields and division of the music industry.  Although working with self funding and voluntary services, WIM, has helped to implement change to some of these organisations where recent development of the incorporation of the WIM Festival objectives has come into play.

As part of the continued Awareness Campaign, to promote the newly celebrated day, the WIM International umbrella, are glad to have been congratulated on their work by the United Nations and are sincerely happy to share their declared "International Women In Music Day" with women everywhere.

Women In Music Day is our new celebration - giving all women who work in the music industry the opportunity to celebrate their true worth.  From Secretary to singer, from receptionist to roadie... we want to remember all the hard work that goes into the behind the scenes efforts of those who work toward progressive change in an industry where women have  struggled to be recognised for their efforts and hard work.

As we join hands across the globe, we want you to acknowledge your worth...invest in the Women In Music Day Ribbon And Rose - the emblem uniting all females roles within the industry.

With a global effort, we can make give acknowledge to all those who went before us....Billie Holliday, Salina, Aaliyah, Mama Thornton (original singer of the song Hound Dog, later covered by Elvis) Bessie Smith (an influence for Janis Joplin), Celia Cruz, Dusty Springfield, Dinah Shore, Dinah Washington, Edith Piaf (her song La Vie En Rose has been covered by NUMEROUS artists of various genres), Elizabeth Cotten, Ella Fitzgerald, Etta Baker, Eva Cassidy, Florence Ballard (fomerly of the Supremes) Judy Garland, June Pointer (founding member of the Pointer Sisters), June Carter Cash, Kristen Pfaff (of the group Hole), Kirsty McCall, LaVern Baker, Laura Brannigan, Lisa "Left Eye" Lopes, Ma Rainey, Nina Simone and the many many more.
